Jeff Shearer, Costume Designer

Jeff is a passionate and innovative costume designer with a flair for creating captivating and authentic looks for the stage. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, he has established himself as a versatile and resourceful artist known for his attention to detail and ability to bring characters to life through costumes.  Born with a love for storytelling and a keen eye for aesthetics, Jeff enjoys being part of a collaborative team.

Work Experience


Freelance Design & Construction, Various Companies  | 1993- Present  

Designed and produced a wide variety of costumes for numerous clients. Including: Cincinnati Zoo's Festival Of Lights, Paramount's Kings Island; Carowinds; and Kings Dominion, Dorney Park, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's Home For The Holidays, and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Resident Costume Designer/Shop Manager | Aug. 2016- Aug. 2023

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati - Cincinnati, Ohio 45227

Designed three Main Stage productions presented at the Taft Theatre and multiple tours every season. Established build schedules. Fabric and supply purchase. Show and costume budgeting. Credit card reconciliation. Receipt and budget reconciliation. Supervised a build crew, while hiring contractors and over hire for wigs, makeup, and wardrobe. Machine and equipment purchases and maintenance. Costume shop set up and organization. Costume stock organization and rental. Costume patterning, draping, and sewing. Proficient with all forms of EVA construction. Worked with guest designers to bring their designs to life. Completed performance reviews. Fostered a positive and healthy work atmosphere.
